The Story...so far
Scott Davis is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter currently living in Austin, Texas. He started playing in bands in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the mid '90s, most notably as a member of the Fort Worth Alt-Country act, Woodeye, and as a founding member of Chatterton.
In 2005, he was hired by Jason Eady to cover guitar, lap steel, banjo, and mandolin duties. Soon after being hired by Eady, Davis relocated to Austin, where he quickly became involved in the local studio scene as a session player and producer.
In early 2008, Hayes Carll hired Davis as a part of his touring unit in support of his critically-acclaimed album, Trouble in Mind. Over the next 6 years, Davis would tour worldwide with Carll making appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Austin City Limits (TV show and festival), Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble, and countless other live performances. In 2011, Davis played on Carll's 4th studio album, KMAG YOYO and Other American Stories. He also co-wrote the title track with Carll and John Evans which was nominated for Song of the Year by the Americana Music Association.
In addition to playing live with Hayes Carll and Jason Eady, Davis has appeared live with Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis, Wanda Jackson, Sunny Sweeney, Jack Ingram, Turnpike Troubadours, Corb Lund, Jamie Wilson, The Trishas, Emily Bell, John Evans and many more. From 2013 to 2017, he was the touring bass player for The Band of Heathens. He handled bass duties on their critically lauded 2017 release, Duende. He can currently be seen playing regularly with Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis and as part of Robison's Next Waltz web series house band.
As a producer, Davis has been credited with duties on Hayes Carll's song, "Hard Out Here", which appeared on KMAG YOYO and Other American Stories. He has also produced 2 records for Carnival Recording Artist, Rob Baird, the second of which was included in Spin's Top 20 Country Albums of 2012 (I Swear Its the Truth). Most recently, he produced Jamie Lin Wilson's critically acclaimed record, Jumping Over Rocks. Additionally, Davis has produced records by The Trishas, The Sweet Nuthin', Kevin Aldridge, Jeff Whitehead, and Statesboro Revue.
As a songwriter, Davis is credited on co-writes with Hayes Carll, John Evans, Jason Eady, Jamie Wilson, and Gordy Quist. He's also written several of his own songs and released his first solo record, Considerate Vandals in 2016.
